Medals & Awards

Dedication, hard work, perseverance, and other admirable qualities are often attributed to cadets. Years of service, exemplary contributions, exceptional leadership and citizenship, and more are recognized with various medals and awards. These are no small tokens, but symbols of the efforts of those they adorn. Below are some of the medals and awards available to cadets who are found worth to have them bestowed upon them.

Cadet Award for Bravery

The Cadet Award for Bravery may be awarded by the Canadian Forces to Cadets who perform outstanding deeds of valour involving risk of their own lives in saving the lives or property of others.

Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence

The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Cadet Medal of Excellence is awarded in recognition for individual endeavours in citizenship that meet or enhance the aims and objectives of the cadet movement.

Air Force Association of Canada (AFAC) Medal.png

Air Force Association of Canada (AFAC) Medal

The Air Force Association of Canada (AFAC) Medal recognizes exceptional and noteworthy qualities, and will be awarded annually to the top graduating Air Cadet from the Power and Glider courses.

Lord Strathcona Medal

The Lord Strathcona Medal (LSM) is the highest Award which can be bestowed upon a Cadet in recognition of exemplary performance in physical and military training.

Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans (ANAVETS) in Canada Cadet Medal of Merit

One medal shall be awarded at each Cadet Summer Training Centre (CSTC) to the top cadet, male or female, for eligible summer courses.

Air Cadet Service Medal

The Air Cadet League of Canada (ACL) has created an Award to recognize continuous meritorious Cadet Service of at least four years by deserving Air Cadets. To qualify for this Award, a serving Cadet must have successfully completed four years of honourable service with no serious infractions. 

Awards

Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Cadet of the Year Award

The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Air Cadet of the Year Award is selected annually by the Air Cadet League of Canada on behalf of the RCL. At the invitation of the RCL the RCL Air Cadet of the Year will be invited by the RCL to act as the youth representative for the annual National Remembrance Day Ceremony held in Ottawa.

Cadet Certificate of Commendation

The Cadet Certificate of Commendation may be awarded by the Canadian Forces to an Air Cadet for outstanding gallantry in saving lives or property of others.

Colonal Robert Perron Award

The Colonel Robert Perron Award for Excellence in Physical Fitness is a national award presented annually to the top male and female cadets who demonstrate the best physical fitness.
